Mike Blankenship - Instructor

Full time police officer with 11 years of experience and currently assigned as a canine officer for his agency. Mike has 9 years of SWAT experience serving as an entry team member, sniper, assistant sniper team leader, and current entry team leader. Additionally, he is a certified firearms instructor for pistol, submachine gun, patrol rifle, shotgun, and Simunitions. He also serves as an active violence instructor and field training officer for his department. 

Prior to entering law enforcement he joined the United States Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division for four years. After successfully completing the U.S Army’s Infantry School, Airborne School, Ranger School, Sniper School, and Warrior Leader course he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and assigned as a sniper section leader in a reconnaissance unit. He was deployed for 450 days and conducted combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

Kevin and Dan introduced Mike to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai in 2017 to study under Professor Jorge Gurgel. During that time, Mike also earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Indiana Wesleyan University in February, 2019. During his law enforcement career, he has attended numerous SWAT, firearms, canine, and drug interdiction courses and conferences. Of merit include: Ohio Tactical Officers Association (OTOA) Team Leader course, OTOA Advanced Team Tactics, OTOA Solo Officer Response to Active Threat (SORAT) Instructor, National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Risk Mitigation course, Law Enforcement Advanced Development (LEAD) Hostage Rescue Tactics & Techniques, and the American College of Surgeons Bleeding Control Basic Instructor course.
